Factors Contributing to Moral Deterioration among Teenagers

Abstract

This survey discusses factors that instigate moral deterioration among the teenagers. To get the data, the writer has used the questionnaire survey towards male and female teenagers at Sekolah Tunas Bakti (Jerantut). Data have been analyzed descriptively. Various factors are known to cause this issues, among them are lack of parental care, interest to try something new, poverty, inappropriate socialization, influence from peers, environment and so on. Besides that, the author surveys about the wrong doings done by the teenagers, where these wrong doing also cause immorality among them. Among the wrong doings are drug addiction, theft, robbery, inappropriate socialization, gangsterism, truancy and others. The result of this research shows that the main factor that causes moral deterioration are inappropriate socialization and the influence of porn video compact disc (VCD). Some of the wrong doings by teenagers are playing truant, loafing and running away from home. Moreover, the effect to the teenagers after involving in moral deterioration is that they do not get attention from their parents. So it is our responsibility to overcome these problems
