Abstract

This writing discussed the issue of israiliyyat in the story of Balqis as it is written in the books of Tafsir such as its linguistic and technical definition and the views of scholars, its emergence in Tafsir since the time of the Prophet Saw, the Sahabah, and Tabiin, its division and rulings, and an analysis of its examples from selected books of Tafsir based on verses 23 and 44 from surah al- Naml. The methodology of this writing is based on library research and the collection of materials from major and contemporary references in the field. It is found that some of the scholars have included israiliyyat related to the story of Balqis in their Tafsir, which contain unnecessary details and sometimes, could affect our faith as a Muslim.
