Abstract

This research paper aims to clarify and explain in depth the importance of looking after over aged parents and to maintain the cordial relationship between them based on the Al-Quran and As-Sunnah. For this purpose the writer uses several methods or approaches, namely, Literature Review in the Libraries of KUIM, the Islamic Centre in Kuala Lumpur, UKM and UM. From these places, the writer collected the relevant data and information on the subject. The data and information collected is then verified and analyzed to ascertain its validity and usefulness for this study. The outcome of the study reveals that it is compulsory for the offspring's of aged parent to look after their welfare. Islam gives special attention for this as in the statement, the key to heaven is when the offspring's make sacrifices in looking after the welfare of the aged parents. In maintaining cordial relationship between offspring and parents is key to happiness and harmonious living for all people. Allah curses breaking the discard between offspring's and aged parents. Finally, the writer hopes that this academic paper will provide move insights on the importance of children to look after the well being of the aged parents.
